Kajukenbo is a true mixed martial art developed by 5 masters from 1947-49 in the tough Palama Settlements of Hawaii. This style incorporates Karate, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Kenpo, and Chinese boxing. The founder, Adriano D. Emperado, passed away in April 2009.

This website is focused on giving information to the students attending the Kajukenbo classes at Chandler-Gilbert Community College and Mesa Community College at the Red Mountain campus.

Randy Ong:

Sigung Randy Ong is the head instructor for the Kajukenbo programs at the Maricopa Community Colleges. He has been instructing Kajukenbo at the Chandler-Gilbert Community College for the past 10 years and has been teaching Hawaiian Lua for the past 8 years. Sigung Ong believes in teaching through positive reinforcement, thereby building self-esteem and confidence in his students.

 A native Arizonan, Sigung Ong was first introduced to the martial arts at the age of 16 and has devoted the past several years to the art of Kajukenbo under the instruction and guidance of Professor Mike Whittle and Hawaiian Lua under the instruction and guidance of Grand Master Olohe Solomon Kaihewalu.

Sigung Ong currently holds the rank of 6th degree Black Belt in Kajukenbo Karate and 5th degree in Hawaiian Lua. He has also studied Ed Parkers Kenpo Karate, Hap Ki Do, Hawaiian Kenpo Karate, Sim Lum Pai Hung Gar Gung Fu, and the art of Brick and Ice breaking.

Sifu Hugo started the Kajukenbo art at the Mesa Community College Red Mountain campus in 2006. He has built up the program since that time into a very popular class that has to find a room large enough to hold all the students who want to participate.

Born in Canada, Sifu Hugo has also studied under Professor Mike Whittle and Grand Master Olohe Solomon Kaihewalu and currently holds the rank of 5th degree Black Belt in Kajukenbo and 1st degree Black Belt in Lua.

 Sifu Donny has achieved his 4th degree Black Belt in Kajukenbo and his 1st degree Black Belt in Hawaiian Lua. He started teaching at CGCC several years ago and started teaching at the Red Mountain campus in 2008 as well. Sifu Donny started his martial arts training in Kodokan Judo from Tawni McBee and Tom Palen. In 1996, while attending CGCC, a Kajukenbo flyer in the fitness center caught his interest. He came to the next class and was hooked. He trained under Professor Mike Whittle for the next 8 years. While training under Professor Whittle, he also had the privilege of learning Hawaiian Lua from Grand Master Olohe Solomon Kaihewalu and Professor Whittle.
